Through the entire month of April, the Documentary channel has been running a series that investigates and tries to interpret the supposed 'code' hidden in the great pyramids. I discovered this program only in time to see the final episode on the 30th of April but I was somewhat amazed at the conclusions that they came up with. I am now going to have to make time to view the previous episodes as well. Past programs of this type have simply repackaged a lot of old conventional ideas and notions and tried to pass it off as something new and undiscovered. This one, however, seems to be putting fourth some really interesting hypotheses based upon some fairly unconventional archaeology. It also proposes a very new time line for the creation of many of the world's enigmatic monuments and offers a very different perspective on the human cycle of intelligence and social development.
Ever since I was a small child I often wondered about the history of the human species. Growing up I was fed the usual drivel based upon our very limited and narrow minded understanding of our species. I was often told that science only deals with what can actually be proven through repeated experimentation and/or is based only upon what one can actually hold in ones hand and see and touch. The problem with the totally scientific approach for me was that there were just too many unanswered questions for which science had no adequate and logical answers. These 'unanswered questions' even prompted many to propose some sort of extra terrestrial visitations as being possible explainations for some of the archaeological anomolies that exist in our world today. While such notions made for some very interesting and entertaining reading they still left a lot unexplained for me and raised a whole host of other questions in my mind as to why an advanced species from another world would be significantly interested in us in the first place.
In my early teens I began forming a notion in my own mind that perhaps our species had risen to substantial pinacles of success before our recorded history and then been knocked back into pre-history by some sort of cataclismic disaster. In my immature little mind at the time such a notion answered many of my questions about some of the really strange archaeological finds that were hidden away by conventional science because no one could explain their existence. It also explained many of the commonalities in the various religious beliefs and creation myths in disparate societies all around the world. It provided a sort of historical basis for the Biblical story of the Tower of Babel which may also be the origin of the myth of Atlantis where we all lived together on the supercontinent of Pangea, spoke the same language, and enjoyed a level of technology unparalleled even today. It even tends to explain the 'narrowing' of our genetic heritage at some point in the not too distant past. However I was careful not to express myself too loudly on this topic because the mainstream people would have thought I was some kind of a nut. LOL When I did discuss it, it was always with a 'tongue in cheek' kind of attitude that put it more in terms of 'what if' than being what I acutally believed.
This documentary series is the first that I have seen that actually puts a lot of the anomolous archaeological pieces together, lays them out on the table, and tries to make sense of them in the context of a whole perspective. What emerges in this 'big picture' is a bit amazing and quite surprising. To my utter amazement it actually lends some credence to many of my youthful imaginings. The first thing that must go is our whole concept of creationism and evolution from the stand point of our present social iteration. Instead, we may just be survivors of a whole civilization that existed several millions of years ago and were forced by circumstances (natural or otherwise) to go back to square one and start over as illiterate cave dwellers. This topic has been amply covered in many of our catastrophy movies where the writers envisioned the complete destruction of all of our technology and made all of our conventional knowledge useless as we are forced to go back to our most primitive ways to survive.
One thing that I found hopeful in this presentation was the notion that time and events in time are cyclical. The big discussion over the Mayan calendar supposedly ending in 2012 fails to take note of the fact that the calendar is based upon circular rings that interlock upon each other until finally arriving at the long calendar. It too is a very large ring but it echos the precession of our planet's orbit. So, instead of an 'end' we just start over. Within this cycle there are certain events that describe the human condition and, to some extent, actually foretell our future in a very general sort of way. During some periods we live in peace and great enlightenment while in others we live in war and misery and exist in a sort of dark ages. The general drift of this documentary is that 2012 is actually going to be a transition from the 'Dark Ages' into a period of 'Knowledge and Great Enlightenment.' I really hope that is true.
Today we are living in one of the most confused and almost infantile periods in human history. Our social leaders, both political and spiritual, are acting like irresponsible childeren and abusing their positions in horrific ways all over the place. It may well be described as a kind of dark ages where superstitions, religious fundamentalism, and political greed rule the day and social progress is all but at a standstill. All we do is stand aroung and argue about who is right and who is wrong. It seems that the pyramids have offered clues to the cyclic nature of time for eons and we are only now just learning to understand them. I only wish that I could have lived in one of the Golden Ages instead of a Dark Age. LOL However, I could come back in another life and maybe it will be in the year 24500 ACE. That should be about the apex of the next Golden Age of enlightenment. Meanwhile, I will just content myself with watching the transistion and hoping for some improvement in the human condition in my lifetime. Maybe we can begin to put aside our trivial differences and start advancing as a species again instead of wallowing in our own self interest and self indulgence.
If you are interested in more information on this series, simply go to www.pyramidcode.com and it will give you a number of links which summarize the program series and some where you can actually replay the episodes. I hope you enjoy. It is nice for me to be able to read something positive now and again.
